Over the horizon, the promise of light
New beginnings dawn, a whole new life
To live and conquer a bright new day
The very first for the rest of my life
As I walk my walk I ask myself
Will I reach whole new heights?
Will I conquer the world in my stride?
Will I acquire success oh so elusive?
I trip, I fall, I hurt as I walk...
I get up and walk a little too fast
The light blurs and the horizon seems so far...
The sun is setting on my day...
But I still have a long long way!
I stop to think and I find...
I have been there all the time!
The bliss and peace has always been mine..
Oh if only I had stopped before
And then I look up only to see
Over the horizon, the promise of light
New beginnings dawn, a whole new life
To live and conquer a bright new day
The very first for the rest of my life

Writers Island prompt - Over the horizon.
Here's wishing all the writers a wonderful "rest of your life". I think of Scarlet from "Gone with the wind" standing at the stoop of Tara... looking over the horizon and declaring "Tomorrow is a new day"...
Oh yes it is and like the saying goes.. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life!

I like the reminder that each day is a new chance, and the way that you illustrate that verbally by both opening and closing with this idea.
Tumble Words and Robin - This was inspired by Scarlet O 'Hara.. Every day is a new opportunity waiting to unfold!!
wow! this blog's kewl too...
as far as the "criticism" goes... i really am not qualified enuf to do that! i can't write a poem to save my life! hence, i admire all who can. :)
Yes, a new day every day. Thank you for your lovely words.
As I've mentioned in one of my comments, a song says, "tomorrow is always a day away." so is the horizon. It always lies ahead drawing us and enriching us as we move forth in life.
I wish you well.

I love the tension in this poem. The peace and the bliss have been there all the time but we still reach out towards the light on the horizon.
Life's all about the journey, isn't?
Lovely post... I really liked the realization of the need to stop... and that there is a tomorrow and time to begin again... and that we never ever get it all done, there is always another horizon!
And yes, I've ridden in a cockpit twice!!!
loved your visual journey...the best to you on your travels...
Rayshma - Thanks for visiting.. and your encouragement!! both here and in my other blog!!
lissa - indeed... every day is new isnt it
Jeques - Thanks for your lovely comment.
Watermaid - You said it... but then if we dont strive to reach towards the light.. life may become stagnant...

Lea - wow... next time can I go with you??
Little wing - Thanks so much.
Well said.Reminds me of the message in "The Alachemist.'Sometimes it is important to stop and look--we don't realise it.
Nicely put!
What a lovely, aspirational poem!
hey that's exactly how i feel. . .if only we treasured the moments that were to be treasured instead of waiting for something big to happen. . .how often we forget that its the small things in life that matters the most!!
